Robotics Class - We are getting there!

This week we used our Learning Powers in our Robotics class. We persisted and asked for help when things got tricky. We also collaborated and problem solved when we got stuck.

This week we continued to build our robots. Some of us started to learn how to programme them to move in straight lines and stop at a certain spot. We are still working on this! Next week we will be learning to turn corners.

To make the robots move we use a programme on the Macbooks. We use the Action Blocks and decide on the Power/ Speed and the Duration/ Distance numbers. It is a lot of trail and error. We just need to have a go and learn from our mistakes.

    1. Hi Elias. Thank you for your comment. It is a bit tricky. It is all about having a go and improving and learning from our mistakes. Some of us found it hard making the robot. We are all having difficulties learning to programme the robot to move.

  3. Hi South Hornby!

This is a great post about robotics, when I was at south hornby we made cars with lego. They had electric motors that drove them around.
    Hope you had fun!

  4. Hello
    My name is Maddison
I am a year 5 student at Yaldhurst Model School
I really liked the amount of text you had it wasn't too long so I would get bored of it but it wasn't too short like a couple of sentences
It looks really fun did you make a robot? if you did what sort of robot did you make?
The only thing that I think that you need to work on is that maybe write about the photos

  6. Kia ora Robotics Class,
I have been having fun learning with Robots lately too. I have tried the Dash robot and the Edison robot and have found like you, lots of trial and error BUT loads of fun too! I haven't had the opportunity to try out Lego Mindstorm. Do you actually build your own robot with special lego? Do you have a plan that you follow?
